JOINING FORCES: Parental Substance Abuse and the Drug-Endangered Child

This presentation will discuss how parental drug use can both directly and indirectly impact children.  We will also address how to care for the drug-endangered child.

Karen Buchi will be giving this session on Tuesday, November 13 of JOINING FORCES from 3:00 – 4:30 pm.

Dr. Karen Buchi is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah, and Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics.  She obtained her MD degree at the University of Utah in 1984, where she also completed her pediatric residency in 1987 and her fellowship in developmental and behavioral pediatrics in 1989.  She has been involved with issues concerning the drug endangered child for over 20 years, performing prevalence studies, working on state level task forces, and caring for drug exposed infants and children in her role as the Medical Director of the University Hospital Well Baby Nursery and at South Main Clinic.
